Get over the embarrassment fast - methods to camouflage hair loss

Tackling hair loss is a long-term process. This can be frustrating because you would prefer to get rid of it quickly. A good and quick solution can then be camouflage. There are several methods that can help you do this. There is a suitable camouflage method for every situation. We explain them here.

Why does tackling hair loss take so long?

Hair grows from hair follicles in the skin in a cycle. This growth cycle goes through three phases:
  • the anagen phase -or growth phase- in which 80 to 90 per cent of hair follicles are located,
  • the catagen phase -or transition phase- in which hair becomes loose (1 to 3 per cent),
  • and the telogen phase -or resting phase- in which hair falls out and the hair follicle prepares to form a new hair (10 to 18 per cent).

At a normal rate, hair grows about 1.25 cm per month. The longer a hair is in the growth phase, the longer it gets. This phase lasts between 2 and 6 years. So nothing about hair growth is fast. Unless you are talking about hair loss, then it can suddenly go fast.

We know that waiting quietly is often difficult, so we would like to give a few tips on how to tackle your hair loss:
  • Make a plan. Decide in advance how long you want to try a product and stick to it.
  • Slow changes are hard to observe if you look at it daily. Look at hair growth only once a month. Taking photos can help - especially with long hair, the small, new hairs are often hard to see.
  • Let other people look at it from time to time. These can often notice differences better. Be realistic. Hair follicles need time to grow new hairs. And hairs need time to grow long.

Hair fibres

Hair fibres are microscopic fibres that attach to your hair by static electricity. It is the solution to instantly get a fuller head of hair. The fibres make hair look fuller and hide bald spots. Hair fibres are therefore often called hair camouflage or hair concealer.

The effect of hair fibres is natural and invisible to other people around. Hair fibres make many people feel more confident. They stay on all day, do not shed, do not irritate and, especially after using the fixing spray, are resistant to rain, wind and perspiration.

Keratin hair building fibers are the perfect cosmetic solution to transform the appearance of thinning hair within a short time. The hair fibers adhere to the existing hairs and make the hair look thicker and fuller. The minuscule fibers are made of natural proteins.

Colour spray and scalp shader

Another option to camouflage thin spots is using a colour spray and a scalp shader. This is widely used in film, TV and theatre. Bare or dune spots are coloured in on actors because the bright lights used accentuate every thin spot.

These camouflage products are called colour sprays and scalp shader. Colour sprays camouflage thinning hair and hair loss in both men and women, it hides outgrowth and makes your hair look better. It can get rid of outgrowth and gives hair a better look. It takes some skill to give it a natural effect. Our product pages explain in detail how to use the products.

Volumising shampoo

A volumising shampoo could also give that little bit extra to give the impression of more. These shampoos contain ingredients that lighten the hair and give it more volume. These shampoos often contain cleansing ingredients that remove oils and residue that weigh hair down and flatten it.

They are designed not to weigh hair down, making it appear fuller and airier. It is important to note that the amount of volume you experience can depend on factors such as your hair type, thickness and the specific ingredients in the shampoo.
